Safeguarding

At Tutor Doctor, we are unwavering in our commitment to safeguarding the well-being of every student. Our comprehensive policies and procedures, created in collaboration with the NSPCC, are designed to create a secure and supportive learning environment for all.

Our Safeguarding Commitment

Every Tutor Doctor office adheres to stringent safeguarding measures to ensure the protection of children and vulnerable individuals:

  • Enhanced DBS Checks: All tutors undergo Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks, ensuring they are authorised to work with children and vulnerable adults.
  • Ongoing Monitoring: Tutors are encouraged to subscribe to the DBS Update Service, allowing for continuous monitoring of their suitability.
  • Safeguarding Training: All tutors that work with Tutor Doctor undergo regular safeguarding training to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest guidelines and best practices.
  • Clear Reporting Procedures: Established protocols are in place for reporting any concerns, ensuring prompt and effective action.

Our Recruitment & Vetting Process

Our recruitment process is designed not only to ensure the highest levels of tutoring excellence but also to prioritise the welfare of every student we support. By implementing rigorous safer recruitment practices, we ensure that every tutor is equipped, vetted, and prepared to uphold our safeguarding standards.

1. Rigorous Screening & Background Checks

  • Enhanced DBS Checks: Every tutor undergoes an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to verify their suitability to work with children and vulnerable individuals on an annual basis at minimum.
  • References Verification: We contact at least two references to confirm each tutor’s professional experience, character, and suitability for the role.
  • Identity & Right to Work Verification: Tutors must provide valid identification and evidence of their right to work in the UK.

2. Thorough Interview Process

Our recruitment process includes in-depth interviews designed to assess both a tutor’s technical expertise and their interpersonal skills. Tutors are evaluated for their ability to create positive, nurturing, and professional relationships with students.

3. Ongoing Professional Development & Accountability

  • Training: All tutors we work with go through ongoing compliance training to stay updated on safeguarding best practices, and are provided resources for effective teaching strategies, and student engagement techniques.
  • Performance Monitoring: We regularly track feedback from families and schools and conduct quality assessments to ensure tutors consistently meet our high standards.
  • Zero-Tolerance for Misconduct: Tutors who fail to adhere to our safeguarding standards or professional expectations are promptly removed from our team.

By embedding safeguarding principles into every stage of our recruitment process, we ensure that every tutor we work with not only meets but exceeds the expectations of families, schools, and local authorities.
